Moving Orchestra

… is a concept of an improvised instant composition based site specific performance that includes musicians and dancers, sometimes also a light designer. Usually it is planned as an intervention in public space, or inside a building – bringing the audience new point of view and experience in known and otherwise ordinary places/spaces. Usually there is a guide who walks the audience through pre-chosen spots, where musicans and dancers create a short interventions. Different groupings show throughout the walk. The organisation of musicians and dancers vary according to the place and in coordination with light designer (if present).

Moving Orchestra occupies a variety of used or unused spaces, both outdoor and indoor, industrial, historical, architecturally interesting, or completely forgotten. Various places are inhabited by dancers, musicians and a light designer who, in various formations, create a continuous performance at a site specific location/building.

The viewer goes through the space and meets various music-dance situations. Short performances in various formations are freely moved and regrouped, inspired by the space and its atmosphere, its function.

Different points of view on known places/spaces are offered to viewers.  Revealed are the specificities and beauties of the place/space that may easily be hidden in a normal urban rhythm. By music-dance interventions the viewer is being given a different perspective and experience on the public space, and we believe that it also raises interest in what will happen to these community-related places in the future.
