series of open workshops – performance laboratory and sharing of instant composition / dance
improvisation tools

The encounters are led by Mish Rais and Jana Novorytová in Czech and English.

WHAT IS OUR AIM?
To create a laboratory space.
A workshop designed to meet, share and deepen competences for creation in the discipline of
instant composition (dance improvisation).
Working with movement, voice and text.
Semi-closed group, safe environment, cultivating quality. Cultivation of stage acting, listening and
watching. Play and joy are not mutually exclusive with focused serious interest.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?
We will bring different questions, suggestions and tools. We will share our nearly 15 years of
experience with somatic disciplines and dance improvisation. We will draw from our own experience
(performative and pedagogical) and build on artists and educators who have influenced us in some
way in dance, somatic work, and theatrical vision. For the last five years we have been intensively
engaged in artistic research in instant composition, bringing in important international sources and
inspirations and connecting everything in our own practice. We want to open up topics, explore, ask
questions and create a kind of research environment of an open laboratory. We are interested in
encounters in creation, about creative dialogue.
WHO CAN COME?
The workshop is for anyone who has professional performance experience and wants to verify,
deepen and cultivate it, but also for those who want to gain some experience. Musicians playing any
instrument who want to cultivate improvisation with movement are welcome. Advance registration
is required, due to capacity, but we can handle random walk-ins as well.
