The authorial duo Partial Uncertainty /Jana Novorytová and Michaela Raisová/ have been cooperating for five years. This cooperation and mutual understanding culminated in the creation of series of work in progress performances to which they invited also other artists (such as Roman Zabelov – sound, composition, music, Štěpán Hejzlar – light design and others). The premiere of their first evening performance took place in Theatre Disk on November 5, 2017. It was called Partial Uncertainty and the artistic duo adapted the title as their name.
Raisová – Novorytová in their work stubbornly develop and deepen the topics they are interested in the long run – work with language, movement, focus on shifting perception of reality, exposing things we take for granted into new contexts, connecting different disciplines and specific humor. They approach every topic as a subject of research, serious exploration. They do not focus on creating a piece that would always look the same. They leave their performances open, so it changes with each production, according to circumstances.
The authors connect and confront their experience from theatre and dance. The movement parts of the performance explore the possibilities of language and its transfer to movement through improvisation techniques. Their understanding of composition refers to principles of “instant composition” and “evolving technique and making dances” which is as such taught by Julyen Hamilton. They work with basic composition principles and rules of choreographic work (Rudolf Laban, William Forsythe). In the work with language, they are inspired by professor Ivan Vyskočil and his narrative theatre, Roland Barthes and modern theories of language.
Partial Uncertainty also organises and realizes workshops in which they explore the principles of authorial work with language and movement based on their experience from the work.
